On Tuesday October 22, in Santiago de Compostela in Spain, the General Assembly of EurAI, the umbrella organization of European academic AI societies, decided to have the Finnish A.I. Society organize the the European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI) in Helsinki in autumn 2028. Helsinki won the conference in a vote with Budapest and Dublin as the other two contenders. ECAI is the largest European AI conference that covers all sub-areas of AI, with a broad participation from European countries as well as from overseas. The Helsinki conference will follow ECAI conferences in Bologna (2025), Bremen (2026, jointly organized with IJCAI), and Athens (2027). FAIS will organize the conference in collaboration with Aalto University and the University of Helsinki. The main conference venue will be the Finlandia Hall in central Helsinki.
